POLITICS IN IOWA
The months leading up to the first in the nation caucuses in Iowa included candidate visits, protests, and eager supporters arriving at events in hope of meeting their candidate before they left for New Hampshire. However, the visits and the caucuses did not necessarily go as predicted. President Trump visited Des Moines days before the caucuses and barred the press and members of the public from entering. Hundreds were locked out of the event, even with credentials or VIP passes. Several days after, the Iowa caucuses occurred, but the results from the caucus were not released until days later. Iowa politics turned into a confusing mess. Immediately afterwards, the candidates left for the next state. After months of visits, the candidates left Iowa as quickly as they came.
